And she agrees that it’s pungent smelling *Gasps in disbelief* Hello everybody Hello! My name is Arlisa. Welcome to my channel. So I am going to be making some lentil chili today I’ve had success with it in the past. One time. So hopefully I will have some success again. I won’t waste your time. Let’s just get into it. Okay? Alright! I am notorious for tweaking recipes I’m going to try and stick to the recipe as best I can. Alright so I am about to chop up my tomatoes. Alright so, next is the bell pepper. I don’t know about this garlic y’all. I’m wondering if this is supposed to be one third of a cup pressed down, shaken together and running over. Or if it’s just supposed to be 1/3 of a cup and you know once it reaches the limit… without it being pressed down basically. Alright so I’m ready to cook. I’ve got all of my ingredients. And if I don’t have them all out… Oh! I need salt and pepper. Sea salt. Does Himalayan pink salt count as sea salt? Ooooohhh! It’s not a lot of salt left. That doesn’t sound like a lot. There’s also not a lot of pepper left either. So I’m being prepared today. Alright so I’m ready to cook. I’m about to get that dutch oven baby! Alright dutch oven. Ooh! That’s my exercise for today. I better not drop it on this glass stove. Success. Yay for me. Alright, I need a break. In a large heavy dutch oven. It is heavy. Heat olive oil over medium heat. Two tablespoons of olive oil. Add onion and bell pepper. Saute the vegetables for 8 minutes or until soft and lightly browned. Stirring occasionally. Which spatula am I going to use? Should I use a spoon? Rhonda: You need a flat spoon. This. This. It’s flat. Alright, alright, alright. Don’t be fussing at me. Alright so, I’m just spreading out the olive oil. Adding the onions to the dutch oven. I think this is the first time I’ve ever cooked with the dutch oven before. I’m gonna layer some seasonings on. Little bit of salt. Little bit of pepper. I’ll add the bell peppers in here too. Stirring occasionally, stir in the garlic and chili powder. Cook for 1 minute. Then I add the lentils, tomatoes and bay leaf and stock. Season with salt and ground black pepper to taste. Bring to a boil. Lower the heat to simmer… Uh oh! Uh… I gotta let it simmer for 30 minutes. Rhonda: Let what simmer? The lentils. I don’t know why I thought it was gone (going to) be like 10 or 15 minutes or something. I forgot how long it takes to cook lentils. Rhonda: Me and Ike are going to have an alternative dinner tonight. My feelings aren’t hurt. I don’t care. Rhonda: Huh? I said my feelings aren’t hurt. I don’t care. Rhonda:Well… Rhonda: you still have the ingredients for dinner sitting on the counter. *Arlisa fake cries dramatically* I finally had my sister checked the garlic. And she agrees that it’s pungent smelling And she agrees that it’s pungent smelling And she agrees that it’s pungent smelling and I think it’s uh… *Gasps in disbelief* Okay Look! She’s in the laundry room. We’re not gonna tell her that I accidentally got a little bit of the garlic in the food. Don’t tell her okay. I’m gonna remove all of the evidence real quick. Subbing out the rotten garlic for five 1/2 teaspoons I had to have 5 cloves of garlic so I have five 1/2 teaspoons of garlic powder Okay. Whoo! What is next? Stir in the garlic and chili powder. Cook for 1 minute. When do I add the vegetable stock? What’s wrong with these recipes?! See. This is why I should read the recipe all the way through. Tomatoes It doesn’t tell me when I’m supposed to add the stock. So I’m adding the tomatoes. Oh! Bay leaf and stock. Okay so it does say stock. I was wrong. The recipe does tell you when to add the stock. Two 32 ounce cartons of vegetable stock or chicken stock. 1 Bay leaf. Bring to a boil. Lower the heat to medium low. And simmer partially covered for 30 minutes or until tenders oops until lentils are tender. Remove from the heat. And discard the bay leaf. Alright. Transfer 3 cups of cooked chili to a food processor. And process until pureed? *Murmurs under breath* Nah… Mmm mmhm! *Gasps* Did I add in the lentils? Add lentils. *Gasps in disbelief* How you gone make lentil chili without the lentils? Giiirrrrllll! Oh wait. How much lentils am I supposed to be putting in here? It said a bag of lentils right? Okay. One 16 ounce Please Lord let this be 16 ounces. Okay, fifteen and a half ounces. This is good enough for me. What difference is a 1/2 ounce going to make? *Uptempo jovial jazz music plays* Let’s add the very important lentils. I think I’m having a little too much fun with this. Of course I would miss. Alright, last try. I made it! I made it. That’s what I’ll say. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Arlisa: Huh? Isaac: Is the food ready? Arlisa: Huh? Isaac: Is the food ready? Arlisa: Why/왜? Isaac: IS Isaac: THE Isaac: FOOD Arlisa: Get out. Partially covered. Alright so it’s gotta cook for it’s gotta simmer for about 30 minutes in the meantime I’m gonna clean my kitchen. And then once it is done I will show you the final product and taste it and let you know how it tastes. It’s done! Alright so, it is done. It has simmered for its 30 minutes. And now it’s time to try some of it. A nd to see if I need to add any more seasonings. It is definitely fragrant. So that’s good. Hmmm? You’ve gotta let the flavors hit every part of your tastebuds. So I knew that it was going to be a little tart because of the tomatoes that are in there. So I’m probably going to let it simmer just a little bit longer. But not too long. As far as it needing more salt or pepper. I tend to be a little bit heavy-handed with the salt. But I don’t know. I don’t know. Let me taste a little bit more. Hot! Yeah. It’s good. Mmmm. I don’t need to add anything else. So, this was a success. Hmm Mmhm. Yes ma’am. The food turned out great! I’m very pleased with my results. This is a meal that I will be making again and again and again. It’s going into heavy rotation. Okay, so it was delicious. It was flavorful. And nutritious and delicious. My family can eat it. I can eat it. I’m a happy camper. And hopefully you can eat it too. If you try it, let me know. If you’ve had it before, let me know.
