Could Food Truck Friday be in jeopardy downtown Milwaukee

REPORTER: SHE WAS TICKETED THIS MORNING FOR PARKING AT A METER. IN YEARS PAST, THEY WERE RESERVED BY THE TRUCK’S.>>WE WERE INVITED BY THE CITY AND IT WAS NICELY ORGANIZED. THE METERS WERE RESERVED FOR TRUNKS AND YOU HAD MILLIONS OF PEOPLE IN THE PARK. REALLY A VIBRANT SORT OF AFTERNOON ON FRIDAYS. THIS YEAR, THEY HAVE DONE NONE OF THAT.>>THEY ARE GETTING HASSLED BY PARKING CHECKERS AND THEY THINK RESTAURANTS HAVE COMPLAINED.>>MORE FOOD TRUCK’S COMING OUT. THEY DON’T LIKE TO SEE THE FOOD TRUCK OUT. THEY TRY NOT TO HAVE THE SPARK. REPORTER: THERE WERE COMPLAINTS FROM BUSINESSES THAT THEY WERE EATING INTO THEIR PROFITS.>>THIS WAS ON THE TABLE FOR US. IT MEANS A LOT TO US. REPORTER THE PARKING CHECKERS WORK FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. TWO OTHER FOOD TRUCK’S WERE TICKETED OUT HERE TODAY FOR FAILING TO PAY THE METER BUT ONE OF THOSE TICKETS WAS TORN UP WHEN THE OWNER PAID UP. A SPOKESPERSON SAYS THERE’S NO TRUTH THAT THE CITY WANTS TO GET RID OF THE FOOD TRUCK HERE.
