Healthy Food For Your Skin

Skin is your biggest organ and it’s important
to take care of it. Of course, investing in good quality topical products is really important
to care for your skin from the outside in. But today I want to talk about five healthy
foods for your skin, that will nourish it from from the inside out… avocado, tomatoes,
kale, kidney beans, and beets. Number 1: Avocados
Avocado is full of healthy fats, like omega-3s, which strengthen your skin. They are rich
in vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant, and B vitamins like niacin which help reduce
redness and inflammation in your skin. Eating avocado will help your skin cells stay strong
and hydrated. My favourite way to eat it is removing the pit and adding a splash of gluten-free
tamari or soy sauce. But let’s be honest, avocado are delicious any way. Use them to
thicken your smoothies, add to salads, or grab some guacamole.
Number 2: Tomatoes Tomatoes are high in lycopene and beta carotene,
which help reduce sun damage and protect you from wrinkles, age spots, and fine lines.
The redder the tomato, the more lycopene it has. Cooking tomatoes also increases lycopene
absorption. There are of course so many ways to eat tomatoes: pasta sauce, on a sandwich,
in a salad, or just sliced with a drizzle of olive oil and some basil on top.
Number 3: Kale Kale and other dark leafy greens are like
skin superheroes. Kale is one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. Among
other things, it is full of vitamin A, which smooths your skin, and vitamin C, which boosts
collagen. These two vitamins are very powerful anti-agers and kale is a great way to get
your fill of them. They fight the free radicals that are responsible for breaking down the
collagen in your skin over time. Kale also helps to detoxify your liver which is important
to clean out your body and keep your skin clear of blemishes. Kale is fantastic to have
in a green smoothie, salad, or a healthy pesto sauce.
Number 4: Kidney Beans Kidney beans are a really good source of protein.
They’re very high in zinc, which has been shown to help reduce blemishes. So eating
these beans is really helpful if you are dealing with acne at any stage. Kidney beans are also
high in vitamin K which helps protect your nervous system from damage caused by free
radicals. These acne-fighters are particularly delicious cooked in a chilli or in a bean
dip. And number 5: Beets
Beets are high in vitamin A, which helps to clear skin by reducing toxins. They also contain
vitamin C, which builds collagen production. Beets are also full of iron, beta-carotene,
vitamin K, and lycopene, which help keep your skin elasticized and protect against sun damage.
Try eating beets in a soup or salad or juicing them at home.
