HOW TO MAKE CHURROS how to cook that Ann Reardon churros

Welcome to How To Cook That I am Ann Reardon and today we are making churros using two different methods first of all you need to make your batter.
To do that we melt the butter and the water together in a saucepan. for the quantities that you need for this recipe go to there is a link in the description below this video. Then add your flour and continue to stir it over the heat until it clumps together in sort of a ball. in one clump. Then remove it from the heat and keep and keep stirring it and add in the eggs one at a time.
When you first add the egg it kind of goes a bit slimy and looks like it’s not going to combine, just keep stirring until you get that nice shiny mixture. then add you next egg and repeat that. add in your sugar and your vanilla essence and mix well
again until it’s combined Then what you want to do is scoop all of that into a piping bag that’s fitted with a star shaped nozzle. Now the first way of making them is the
traditional way In which you heat up the oil in a saucepan . Usually you deep fry them so you have heaps more oil than this. I am just going to do a few this way to show you. Your oil needs to be heated to about 180 degrees centigrade or 360 fahrenheit If you don’t have a thermometer to check the temperature of your oil the way you’ll know if it is hot enough is as soon as you add it should bubble and it should puff up and should turn brown fairly quickly. Take you piping bag, push all you mixture down to the bottom and then twist the top of the bag so that
when you apply pressure to it it doesn’t come back out the top. Pipe swirls of the mixture into the hot
oil and then use your fingers of a knife to break off the churros mixture Once they are brown then just scoop them out of the oil And place them on some paper towel to drain off any excess. Sprinkle them with some sugar and some cinnamon. Now the second method of making them is
the one that i prefer. Pipe straight lines of them onto some baking paper. Spray them with some cooking oil spray Place them in the oven at 200 degrees centigrade for about twelve minutes or until they are looking crisp and brown. Once they are baked place them on a cooling rack and
sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Churros have to be served with a bowl of melted chocolate for dipping them into.

  12. I'd use salted butter in this recipe and dip them in Cadbury either Dairy milk or Bournville. (Dark chocolate)

  14. In the usa and Mexico we don't dip them in chocolate. When I lived in the UK I had no idea about the chocolate until I went to a German market during Christmas time. It's amazing!
