SEED GRANTS FOR ACCESSIBLE, HEALTHY FOOD 02/21/17 Madison is, somewhat quietly, gaining a reputation for creating a model, urban food system. Our many markets, grocery stores, food producers, near-by growers and of course restaurants are major community assets. And we have them in part because we care about good food. We also care about good food for all, and thus the availability of SEED Grants to support new and recently emerging projects or programs that support access to healthy food in our community. The deadline for applying for one of these grants, which can be for as much as ten thousand dollars, is this Friday, so if you’re interested you need to get going. Any organization, group, or agency that is devoted to making food more accessible is encouraged to apply. More information and applications can be found on the city’s website. Improving our local food system is the goal, and these grants will help do just that.
