The Char-Broil SmartChef TRU-Infrared 3-Burner Gas Grill Review – Part 1 Virtual Showroom

Hi, I’m Max Good Director of Equipment Reviews and Keeper of The Flame at welcome to our Virtual Showroom. Char-Broil’s new SmartChef TRU-Infrared Gas Grill. We’ve been waiting for this for a long time and are very excited to give it a test. It’s similar to their other true infrared grills with one big difference SmartChef can be controlled and monitored wirelessly. You actually have to turn it on just to fire up the grills. That’s our start/stop button you can run it in a manual mode and override this system, or You can control it and monitor it from your smartphone you can cook by meat temperature with the included integrated thermometer or You can use the guiding recipes that Char-Broil provides Which will send you prompts like if you’re making a steak it’ll say time to flip the steak. This is their dado light. It’s searching for the network. They got this technology a couple years ago and tried to use it with their Saber line their Saber Edge grill. Somehow didn’t work out and they pulled it off the market, but they’re reintroducing it here for the big box stores. Char-Broil’s TRU Infrared cooking system has been around for a while now. It essentially consists of a radiant plate that sits over low output burners the plate absorbs the heat energy from the burners and it can get mighty, mighty hot right here. This particular model has coated cast iron grates to fit over these little holes, and that’s the only opening to the flame, but they get comfy by the grill The result is you get no flare-ups, very little convection heat, your foods come out moist and juicy. It’s a really forgiving system. Now what’s different about the smart grill is not only does it have the integrated meat probe, but it has this sensor at the back the sensor sends the internal temperature in the cook box to a master valve regulator system. you can see it here. I know it’s a little dark, but there are three wires coming out of this. They go to each of the three burners. This valve regulator allows you to actually control your gas grills cooking temperature from your smartphone. You can also monitor the food temperature with the integrated meat probe. Set alerts or cook by time The side Burner is manual only, can’t be controlled with your smart phone. Comes with a warming rack two front wheels and two rear locking casters. There is a single battery-operated igniter. When a burner is on the control knob will light up. With the exception of the battery-Powered igniter all other electronic systems run off of the standard outlet. We’ve been calling for digital thermostatic control on gas grills for years others have tried. Let’s find out if Char-Broil can deliver the Goods. I thoroughly tested this model if you’re watching on YouTube scroll down right under the little piggy with the red hat and click on the link to my full detailed review. 1. I have a performance Char-Broil 3 burner Tru infrared grill model 463371316. I want to take off the TRU infrared grates and replace them with regular conventional stainless steel grates. Will this be a problem or not?
